Pressline

Privacy Policy

Effective 21 September 2026. Covers thepressline.app and the Pressline apps for iOS and Android.

The short version. There are no accounts, so we do not know who you are. What you follow is kept on your device. If you turn on match alerts, your device sends us a notification token and the ID numbers of the matches and teams you want waking up for, and nothing else. We do not sell data, we do not run advertising, and we do not track you across other websites.

Who we are

The Pressline is operated by 31twelve Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17455867. Registered office: 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, email support@thepressline.app or write to us at that address. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

What we do not collect

There is no sign-up, no sign-in and no user profile. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or payment details, because nothing in the product needs them. The apps do not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or calendar, and they carry no advertising or analytics SDKs.

What stays on your device

Your choices are stored locally, in your browser’s local storage on the website and in the app’s own storage on a phone. That means:

  • the matches, teams and competitions you follow
  • any score predictions you make
  • your appearance setting, whether dark, light or following your system
  • the date you were last looking at

None of this reaches us on the website at all. Clearing your browser data, or deleting the app, deletes it. The one exception is described next.

Match alerts

Alerts are off until you turn them on. When you do, your device registers with us and we store a small record so we know where to send a goal notification. That record holds:

  • the push token your phone’s operating system issues to this app
  • whether the device is iOS or Android
  • which kinds of alert you asked for, such as goals, kick-off or full time
  • the ID numbers of the matches and teams you are following

A push token identifies a single installation of the app on a single device. It is not a name and it is not an advertising identifier. We hold it only to deliver the alerts you asked for, and we do not use it for anything else.

Turning alerts off in the app, or revoking notification permission in your phone’s settings, stops the delivery. Deleting the app invalidates the token, and the record is removed once the platform tells us the token is dead.

Website measurement

The website uses Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure how quickly pages load. These are cookieless and aggregate. They record things like the page visited, the referring site, the country, and the browser and device type. They do not build a profile of you and do not follow you to other sites.

Cookies

The public website sets no cookies, which is why you have never seen a cookie banner on it. Our internal admin area is password-protected, is not part of the public product, and uses a single session cookie for the people who run the site.

Server logs

Our API keeps operational records of how it is performing, such as which endpoint was called and how long it took. These carry no personal data in the ordinary case. When a request is refused for exceeding our rate limit, we also record the IP address it came from, so we can tell a busy household apart from something automated. Those records are deleted automatically after 60 days.

Who else processes this

We keep the list of suppliers short and use them only to run the product.

  • Vercel hosts the website and provides the measurement described above.
  • Railway hosts our API and its database, where the alert records live.
  • Apple and Google deliver the push notifications themselves, through the notification services built into iOS and Android. A notification passes through them to reach your phone.
  • API-Football supplies the fixtures, scores and statistics, and ESPN supplies the news headlines. We read from them. They receive nothing about you.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Where your data is held

Our suppliers operate globally, so data may be processed outside the United Kingdom. Where it is, the transfer is covered by the standard contractual terms those suppliers offer, which is the safeguard UK data protection law asks for.

Why we are allowed to do this

Under UK GDPR we rely on two grounds. Delivering the alerts you switched on is necessary to provide a service you asked for. Keeping the site running, secure and fast is our legitimate interest, balanced against how little we collect to do it.

Children

The Pressline is a general audience football app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to our processing of it, and to receive a copy. Because we hold no account, the practical route for most people is faster than writing to us: turn alerts off, or delete the app, and the record goes.

If you would rather we did it, email support@thepressline.app or write to us at the registered office above. One caution worth stating plainly: with no account to look you up by, we can only act on an alert record if you can tell us the push token it is held under, and most people cannot. If you contact us we will explain what we can and cannot find.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we will change this page and move the effective date at the top. We will not quietly start collecting something this page does not mention.
